There are convenient pick-up and drop-off points in the city as well as at the Bearspaw Lifestyle Centre and at Cochrane High School. You may choose your own transportation, but please note registration fees will not be adjusted.
***ALL CHILDREN MUST BRING A LUNCH FROM HOME. PREPACKAGED SNACKS AND BEVERAGES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE (CANDY, CHIPS, POP, WATER)***
On the first day of camp participants are assigned to a group based on their age, size and ability. There are three assigned groups ranging from novice to advanced. Each session focuses on safety, basic riding skills and the important aspects of caring for a horse/pony and its equipment.
Participants spend the majority of the day directly with the horses/ponies. Daily activities include a combination of arena exercises, games on horseback,
riding drills, ground activities, gymkhana races and of course trail riding on our beautiful 320 acres. All camp participants are assigned to their own horse for each session. Each camp day has a specific focus or new adventure and by the end of the week participants should be able to ride with confidence, control and balance for their level.
A highlight of working with a live animal is the bond that develops between horse/pony and rider. Participants have the opportunity to feed their horse/pony treats such as carrots or apples (provided from home).
Horse camps benefit children by fostering responsibility, empathy, and confidence. Caring for horses teaches patience and discipline, while riding builds physical strength, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Our camps also promote social interaction, teamwork, and a love for nature, providing a therapeutic, screen-free environment that supports mental well-being and emotional growth.
Our goal is to provide a SAFE, FUN and EDUCATIONAL horse experience for children aged 8 to 16.
We encourage your questions or concerns at any time. In closing, we hope you take this opportunity to experience our Ranch and enjoy the beauty of the Alberta foothills.
